An Assistant Buyer is required to purchase consumables for the machine shop, build shop and dyno cell. Candidates with experience of creating Bills of Materials (BoM) for engine programmes would be well received.

Due to increased workloads this company, an advanced high-performance engine solutions to the automotive and motorsport industry based in Basildon requires a proactive Assistant Buyer to place orders with the best suited supplier (generally based on best price and lead time). As an Assistant Buyer you will be required to:

  • Send out technical drawings for quotation from a proven list of suppliers
  • Chase outstanding purchase orders
  • Create part numbers using ERP system
  • Liaise between all areas of the business including Design Office, Stores, Track Support, Build Shop, Dyno and Accounts
  • Extract data from Bills of Materials
  • Part take in annual stock take

The Assistant Buyer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Proven background in purchasing, know how, policies and procedures
  • Solid understanding of automotive engine components
  • Computer literate (familiar with computer stock control systems)
  • Able to work in an exciting, ever changing, fast paced environment
  • Organised and able to plan their own activities
