£40k (OTE £60k) plus some flexible working

Would you like to join a business set to double in size in which you can develop and own the company purchasing and stock related activities? This is a great SME business with a current turn over in the region of £40m producing specialist products for engineering environments. They are growing, rapidly, globally. We are looking for a Purchasing Manager or Procurement Manager to take control of the purchasing and supply chain strategy and processes, defining and implementing them.

The purpose of the role is to manage and direct supply chain personnel in the procurement, goods receipt, and inventory control of material and Vendor management to ensure on time delivery to customer orders while meeting agreed stock turn value.

You will manage a small team of Buyers with 90% of your focus being on company purchasing and supply chain activities taking control of company spend and ensuring the highest possible quality levels, on time delivery and best value for money across all vendors while ensuring all materials required for production are available when needed. You will be a strong negotiator with good working knowledge and experience of commercial contracts, supply chain management and development. You will be manging vendor performance, selecting and assessing new potential vendors as needed. As part of your remit you will lead S&OP management activities and the monthly business planning process within S&OP which is undertaken in partnership with the senior management team. Activities in the role will include:

Supplier assessment and selection

Negotiating terms and conditions

Supplier consolidation and rationalisation

S&OP management

Coordinate the use of MRP systems

In addition you will oversee a small stores team of 9. This team does include a supervisor and full time day to day management is not required however your guidance and control will be needed, it is envisaged that this will form 10% of your role. You will cover all direct and indirect spend, the majority of spend is however in the area of fabrications, pressed and cut sheet metal, castings, some electronics and similar.

This role would suite an existing Purchasing Manager or Procurement Manager in a similar role. This may also be a great opportunity for a senior in sourcing or buying to take the next step in your career.
